Troop 987 Weekend Camping List
This is a general list of
what the boys in the troop use for camping trips.
The following equipment,
clothing, and personal items are recommended. However, if your son does not
have a specific item, a substitution could be made to provide similar
functionality.
.
1.
Tote – Contico brand. This is generally
water resistant and stacks real nice in the troop trailer. Academy and
Wal-Mart sell them. This is a must for summer camp as they can be locked.

2.
Sleeping bag and Bed Roll – You’re going to
want something to sleep in and on. We do winter camping so buy your
sleeping bag accordingly. We have camped in 20 degree weather and we have
camped in 110 degree weather. Sheets and blankets work well. Don’t forget a
pillow!

3.
Backpacks – This is for the older boys…As a
troop we are going to start doing more high adventure trips. They range from $50 to $600. We ask to
make sure that the pack fit well and are comfortable. REI does fittings.

The items listed below will be necessary to
insure your son's health and comfort while participating in the activities
planned for a weekend trip.
Please, NO
radios or other sound emitting devices that do not have earphones; Aerosol
sprays, or anything that has a high monetary or sentimental value. We have
discovered that things have ways of being misplaced or broken on campouts!
All food
and drink that your camper will need for the weekend will be provided for a
nominal fee decided upon by him and the other members of his patrol.
However, he should consider bringing snacks to replenish his energy between
meals. ALL clothing items that
your son takes should be permanently marked with his name. We frequently
end up with a pile of dirty clothing after the campout with no one willing
to claim anything in it.
